Installing ColdFusion MX (contd.)
Click 'Next
>' to continue. The next screen is
the Password setup screen. These
passwords are for the ColdFusion
administrator and the ColdFusion
RDS service. The administrator is a
web-based interface where you setup
data sources, custom tags,
debugging, and a whole host of
other options. The RDS service is
what allows Dreamweaver MX or
ColdFusion Studio to connect to the
ColdFusion box to allow those tools
to see the databases and files on a
selected ColdFusion box.
Go ahead and set your passwords and
then click 'Next >'. The next
screen is the final screen. Once
you click 'Next >', the
installation process is in full
swing. It only takes a few minutes
to install. So when you are ready,
click 'Install':
If your install seems to hang at
the very end, be patient. I have
had my install 'hang' for a few
minutes and then it finishes. The
installer is doing something that
takes a fair amount of time to
accomplish. Once you see this
screen the installation is
complete. Go ahead and click
'Finish':
After you click 'Finish', the
ColdFusion Administrator should
open in a browser window along with
a popup window displaying a
'Welcome to ColdFusion' message. If
you see these then your install was
successful and you are now ready to
start using ColdFusion...
congratulations!
